Our retreat is for pleasure seekers wanting to experience more. A single destination where you’ll enjoy everything from wildlife to water sports, while basking in magnificent surrounds. Miles of protected waterfront promises so many spaces for family and friends to come together. Dining alfresco, lounging in the sun, long walks, getting cosy by the fire or with glass of wine on the deck as the sun goes down. You’ll become part of the scenery as you kayak along the waterways, explore by bicycle or cruise by car to local wineries and charming country towns.
If you don’t want to leave your hideaway, and in all truth you probably won’t – there’s plenty to keep you busy – or not. Indoors and outside, oversized spaces and large pieces of furniture have been designed with big gatherings in mind. Fully equipped kitchens are for group cook-ups or catering can be arranged from local restaurants and off-premise caterers. There’s a sense of challenge with the water sports and recreation facilities balanced with gentle spaces for wellbeing including yoga, massages, nature walks and sunset boat cruises. For our many guests, Hide & Seek offers a distinctly Australian getaway while bringing childhood memories back to life. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.
Nature & Adventure
Our unique waterfront location offers 3km of waterfront including a secluded inlet, where kids can paddle or get airborne on the floating trampoline. Rediscover old school fun swinging from the Tarzan rope over the river, fishing off the pier, making outdoor fires, toasting marshmallows and stargazing all night.
Watersports and boating enthusiasts will love the underground boat shed and the ease of a boat ramp on the property and access to docking right in front of your accommodation. The still conditions and flat water are a draw card for waterskiers and wakeboarders, carving it up in summer. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboards are available, at no cost, for you discover the riverways. Cast a line for local cod and trout or try your luck freshwater crayfishing in the winter months (fishing licence required). Fat bicycles are for guests to explore the property and surrounds (byo helmets).
It’s game on for wildlife spotting with Hide & Seek Island home to mobs of kangaroos and shy echidnas, while at Swan Lake and Pelican Point you’ll watch the big birds glide in for a landing. In spring, we are privy to the local tortoises laying eggs and when it’s quiet enough, you will spot our resident platypus floating along our private inlet.
Relax & Refresh
Waking up early isn’t so difficult with spectacular sunrises on show and a coffee machine bubbling away. Hit the 4km nature walk trail early and experience a spectacular pink sunrise or for the more adventurous, take a cool plunge in the river followed by a steamy hot outdoor shower.
There are countless ways to spend your time doing something or nothing at all. Guests can re-energise with a group yoga session atop the boat shed or book in a relaxing massage by the water. Multiple shaded day beds and sunlounges encourage you to do nothing at all and wide open spaces, water, greenery, beachy bliss and fresh breezes are instant wellbeing enhancers.
In winter Crisp fresh air, cosying up in front of a crackling wood fire. Will you wait for sunset for your first glass of wine. Just something to think about while you soak in the outdoor clawfoot bath. Once that fresh air finds you, it won’t take long for your 9-5 stresses to melt away.
Gather & Indulge
For our guests who love to get in the kitchen, Hide & Seek brings home authentic farm to table dining experiences. Gather fresh ingredients for your evening meal from our vegetable patch, bursting with homegrown goodness to inspire your menu and a few cocktail infusions. Sharpen your hunter gatherer skills and try trout and freshwater cray fishing to really take it up a notch.
The wood-fired pizza oven transforms nearby tree branches into native gum aromas to infuse wood-fired pizzas and roasts. Sprinkle with fresh herbs from the garden and use the citrus fruits from the orchard for a flavoursome treat. The large kitchens, indoors and outside, are equipped with everything you need. Our homegrown wines complete the picture
For group gatherings and celebrations, our private chef can organise a special culinary experience. We love getting creative for special occasions. Think winery boat cruises, candlelit dinners on the beach and dancing under the stars. Anything is possible.
